We are always proud of the amazing work and achievements of our alumni. Here are three who have used the education from our program to make an impact on their careers and companies.

Anar Popatia has just been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Land Title & Survey Authority of BC. Anar graduated last year from our ESG Designation Program.

She is a certified corporate director with 20 years of leadership experience in corporate governance, international business, strategic consulting and stakeholder engagement. Anar is a recipient of the 2020 BMO Celebrates Women on Boards Award for empowering women to lead in corporate governance, and multiple Dun & Bradstreet presidential citations for excellence in management of her corporate clients.

Anar has also been a constant participant of our exam panel working closely with her fellow alumni and our graduates. “Learning from world-class global directors through the Competent Boards program enhanced my ESG knowledge,” said Anar.. “I look forward to contributing to the Land Title & Survey Authority (LTSA) board.” Hats off Anar!

Congratulations are also in order for Samantha Mooi, who has just been made South African Sustainability Lead at Investec. Samantha also graduated from our ESG Designation Program

Samantha followed her passion, switching her career back in 2018 and bringing group Sustainability to Investec. Motivated by her children, she could not be any happier than where she is today: “The fact that I will need to answer to them, on the impact of my choice, including professionally, on the world we are creating for them,” said Samantha. “As excited as I am to take on this new role, and the challenge it brings, I am confident that I have the necessary skills, especially after completing the ESG Designation Program through Competent Boards.”

Completing our alumni promotion hat-trick is Jenifer Thien, who graduated from the ESG Designation Program last month. Jenifer has just been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board for Lucta.

Her 30-plus years of international senior executive experience and new ESG credentials make her an invaluable addition.  “It is great to have the opportunity to contribute to Lucta’s plan to drive sustainable value creation and growth,” said Jenifer. “No doubt the learnings from Competent Board’s ESG program will be put to good use!”

Well done again to all three! Who will be the next alumni to put their new education to good use for career or company?
