Joyce Cacho,
Board Chair and Independent Director, Sistema Biobolsa
Joyce is an experienced independent director and former Global Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) executive, with expertise in finance, ESG, strategy, fintech, cybersecurity, innovation, and regulatory compliance. The breadth and depth of her experience is anchored in executive and board leadership positions in private corporations and science-based research nonprofits. Joyce has led initiatives which create organization-wide change in P&L structure and accountability.
Joyce serves on the Board of Sunrise Banks, NA, serving on the Finance & Audit, and Compliance & BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) committees. Sunrise Banks provides innovative services such as commercial real estate lending and leasing, and fintech partnerships.
Joyce has a track record of being a leader and entrepreneur in large corporations, and within regulated industries, where compliance is a core enterprise risk. Being instrumental in leading transformation in businesses in banking and manufacturing industries, characterizes her career. As a former scientific language, computer programmer, Joyce is skilled at combining people, processes, and governance to create value.
Joyce is the lead author on the “Why is ESG Material?” article, published by Directors & Boards Magazine (April 2020) and re-distributed in the Weekly Governance Alert (May 2020), Council of Institutional Investors.
Joyce was honoured to be recognized as one of 19 accomplished board members in the 2018 Directors to Watch “Ethnic and Racial Diversity in the Boardroom: Its Time Has Come” by Directors & Boards Magazine, where she spoke about board governance agility being pivotal in shaping and supporting a corporate innovation culture. Joyce’s leadership on the board of Fortune 200 and similar companies was acknowledged when she was included in Savoy Magazine list of 2017 Power 300: Most Influential Black Corporate Directors.
Joyce earned a Ph.D. in Investment Decision-making and Corporate Finance (Brazil Agribusiness) from The University of Missouri-Columbia. She holds the NACD Board Leadership Fellow designation, and is a professional member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of New York.
