The holiday season is big business around the world. Last year, despite the ongoing pandemic, it showed no signs of slowing down. According to the National Retail Foundation, retail sales during the American holiday season (November-December) rose 14.1% to reach $886.7 billion. It was the same picture in Europe, with shoppers spending a lot more in Italy (14.7%), the U.K. (13.7%) and Spain (11.8%), reported Mastercard.
