Dottie Schindlinger,

Executive Director of the Diligent Institute

Dottie Schindlinger is Vice President of Thought Leadership for Diligent Corporation, the pioneer in modern governance. Diligent empowers leaders to turn governance into a competitive advantage through unparalleled insight and highly secure, integrated SaaS applications, helping organizations thrive and endure in today’s complex, global landscape.

In her role, Dottie promotes the intersection of governance and technology as a recognized expert in the field. She serves as Diligent’s key spokesperson at conferences, in boardrooms, on air, and she provides thought leadership on related topics for publications across multiple industries globally.  She is the co-author of Governance in the Digital Age: A Guide for the Modern Corporate Board Director, ©2019, John Wiley & Sons Publishers, and she is the creator and co-host of The Corporate Director Podcast, a show with new episodes every other week featuring corporate directors who share their stories about what’s working in corporate governance in the digital age.  Her work has been featured in ForbesThe Wall Street Journal, and in multiple governance and technology publications including Corporate Board Member MagazineCorporate Secretary MagazineExecranksCSO Online, and Dark Reading.

Dottie was a founding team member of BoardEffect, a board management software platform launched in 2007 focused on serving the needs of healthcare, higher education & nonprofit boards. Prior to BoardEffect, she spent 15 years working in a variety of governance roles, including as a board support professional, consultant, trainer, board member, and senior executive. Dottie’s efforts helped BoardEffect expand from a four-person tech start-up to become an industry leader in the board portal space — serving over 2,000 organizations and more than 140,000 board members and senior executives.

Dottie’s career has included roles as various as program development with the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, Director of Training & Education for the Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University, and Associate Faculty of LaSalle’s Communication Department, teaching Public Speaking to incoming first-year students. Dottie currently serves as an Advisor to the Diligent Institute – Diligent Corporation’s research arm and think tank, and she’s the Vice Chair of the Board of the Alice Paul Institute.  Dottie received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
