Susanne was an early mover to understand the value of engagements with investors on ESG issues. Since 2002, she has been with Investor Relations on roadshows and had numerous investor calls, over the years building a strong equity story for Novo Nordisk as a sustainable business. Through her role as editor-in-chief of the corporate annual report she has shaped the narrative and developed leading metrics to capture ESG performance, value creation and social impact.
Susanne is Chief Sustainability Advisor, Vice President at Novo Nordisk. She sets direction for Novo Nordisk to be a leader with high and forward-looking standards for driving a sustainable business and documenting progress. This role involves external representation and stakeholder engagement on current and emerging sustainability issues, trendspotting and insights, strategic advice to the executive management team and support in embedding an ambitious sustainability agenda across the broader organisation. For nearly 20 years she has led the evolution of the company’s integrated annual reporting as a key channel for being accountable to stakeholders for progress.
Susanne joined the Novo Group in 2000 to ingrain the principle-based approach to business known as the Triple Bottom Line concept as the lens for better-informed decision-making. Since then she has led sustainability-driven initiatives, issues management and stakeholder engagement, with particular focus on ESG investors and the community of sustainability professionals.
She is adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School, visiting professor at UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business, member of the Board of Access to Nutrition Foundation, member of the IIRC Council, member of the Future Fit Foundation’s Development Council, and more recently was appointed member of the SASB Standards Board, the Board of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) and member of the EFRAG Project Task Force to provide technical expert advice on the evolution of mandatory non-financial reporting in the EU.
