Annette Stube,

EVP, Stora Enso; Board Member, Fortum

Annette Stube is Executive Vice President, Sustainability, and a member of the Group Leadership Team in Stora Enso. Part of the bioeconomy, Stora Enso is a leading global provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden construction and paper. Stora Enso employs some 25 000 people in more than 30 countries and shares are listed on the Helsinki and Stockholm stock exchanges.

As a renewable materials company, sustainability is a key component of Stora Enso’s foundation and wider business strategy, as well as corporate governance.

Annette also serves on the Board of Directors of Fortum, a Finnish energy and utility company, and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. Annette is Adjunct Professor at CBS, Copenhagen Business School, an appointed Social Impact Fellow at Berkeley Haas School of Business. She is a member of the Global Compact Expert Network and has served on the Danish Council for Corporate Responsibility and SDGs advising the Danish Government for 10 years.

Previously, Annette was a member of the Advisory Council on Sustainable Finance (FinansDanmark), and served as Vice-chair on the Board of the Think Tank OneThird, focused on Food Waste and Loss.

Until 2020, Annette was Global Head of Sustainability in A.P. Moller – Maersk, a global shipping and logistics company. A main pursuit was to integrate sustainability into daily business and strategic decision-making. Working within and outside the industry, Annette has focused on impacting systemic change e.g. by on-the ground transformation towards international standards in the ship recycling sector.

Previously, Annette headed up pioneering anti-corruption and responsible sourcing programs with Novo Nordisk from 1997 and was part of the team that developed Novo Nordisk’s Triple Bottom Line approach until 2008.

With an MSc in organizational psychology from University of Copenhagen, Annette started her career with SOS-International, as a manager for psychological crisis intervention teams and as manager of supplier relations in Eastern Europe and Africa.
